Airport

We have the following two airports in Tokyo:

  • Tokyo International Airport (Haneda, HND)
  • Narita International Airport (NRT)

Haneda is located more conveniently in the downtown Tokyo, but has fewer flights from abroad compared with Narita.

PASMO and SUICA (popular smart IC cards in Japan)

PASMO and SUICA are a rechargeable contactless smart card, electronic money system. With these cards, you can get on almost all public transports in Tokyo (and in some other areas of Japan). You can get either PASMO or SUICA with 500jpy deposit at every station and recharge them at all stations. They are compatible. The choice doesn’t matter. For details, please see the following websites of PASMO and SUICA:

PASMO: https://www.pasmo.co.jp/en/

SUICA: http://www.jreast.co.jp/e/pass/suica.html

Accommodation

We recommend you to stay around Fuchu station unless you want to challenge the world’s most packed commuter trains in the morning.

For more options, excitement, and convenience, Shinjuku is a choice. It takes only 20-25mins from Shinjuku to Fuchu by (semi-)special express of Keio Line bound for Keio-Hachioji or Takao-Sanguchi. Just remember that Shinjuku is listed in the Guinness World Records as the busiest station of the world.
